OUR COLLEGE PROGRAMMES
SIXTH FORM (FIRST/SECOND YEAR)
Sixth Form at Northgate:
Sixth Form is a grand progression from our GCSE programme, gathering knowledge from Level 2 education and critically applying that to Level 3 qualifications. Pupils will often pick three subjects to study, however, may vary depending on course options. This academic route is very demanding with assignments, coursework and mock exams.
How subject options work:
Pupils shall have a list of options to decide from, which will include A Level programme subjects and Level 3 vocational qualifications. If a pupil did not achieve grades to do three A Level subjects, a vocational course may be added to subsidise the pressure in Sixth Form. There are two enrichment subjects, enrichment and tutorial, which is where sixth form pupils will discuss future plans and track their progress.
LEVEL 2 VOCATIONAL (1 YEAR)
Level 2 Vocational courses at Northgate:
Level 2 Vocational Courses provide individuals with a practical and industry-focused pathway to develop valuable skills and knowledge. These courses are designed to equip learners with the necessary competencies for entry-level employment or further vocational training through Level 3 courses or apprenticeships.
How course options work:
Individuals may choose one Level 2 vocational subject and is equivalent to two GCSE qualifications. This course can be chosen alongside GCSE resit courses if needed, or optionally two GCSE programmes. These GCSE programmes are compromised due to the priority of Key Stage 4.
LEVEL 3 VOCATIONAL (2 YEARS)
Level 3 Vocational courses at Northgate:
Level 3 Vocational Courses offer a higher-level qualification for students seeking advanced skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area. These courses are designed to prepare students for higher education, advanced apprenticeships, or direct entry into skilled employment.
